I always loved a fun word scramble when I was a kid. They’re fun and usually a quick activity. Plus, my brain loves the puzzle.

I still love them now and luckily, so do my kids. I don’t think I’ll ever grow out of my love for word puzzles and I don’t think my kids will either. Do you and your kids like to solve word scrambles?

That’s why I’ve got a fun Valentine’s Day Word Scramble printable for you. Print it out, share with your kids, and have some fun.

Valentine’s Day Word Scramble

I created this simple word scramble with ten Valentine’s Day words, like cupid, love, and heart.

Unscramble and solve all the words. If you need help, you can also download and print the word scramble answer sheet.

This activity is fun for quiet time. It’s also a great time filler in the classroom. And, it’s perfect to take along to a waiting room or a restaurant.

Or, try this idea. You can print one for all your classmates, roll them up, tie with a pretty ribbon, and hand them out as classroom Valentines instead of candy. Include a cute Valentine’s pencil as well. Wouldn’t that be so much fun?

How would you use this Valentine’s Day word scramble?

Gift the gift of Hot Chocolate Valentines

Print up as many Valentines as you wanted. There are four Hot Chocolate Valentines to a page.

Keep reading, you can find the link to download the cards at the bottom of this post.

I printed my valentines on cardstock for extra thickness, but plain copy paper would work as well. If you do use card stock, make sure you use the kind that is made to go through your printer, otherwise, it won’t print correctly. (I’ve already made that mistake!)

Give your friends a sweet and warm gift with these free printable Hot Chocolate Valentines. Just print, cut, and package with an envelope of cocoa.

Cut around the edges with some decorative scissors. (You can find similar ones here.)

And, also punched a hole along each side.

Use string to tie your packet of hot chocolate to the back of each card.

If you are worried about the hot chocolate packets slipping out, attach the card to the packet with a piece of double-sided tape before tying the string.

You’re friends and family will love receiving this simple Valentine’s gift of hot chocolate.

Silly Heart Puppet Valentine Craft

January 31, 2018 By Terri Thompson

We’ve been making a lot of Valentines for our family and friends lately.

It’s been so much fun sharing the love, but I thought the girls would enjoy making a fun craft for themselves.

We got out all the fun supplies: puff balls, googly eyes, paint, and glitter and turned them into a Silly Heart Puppet.

This is a fun open-ended project that is perfect for both toddlers and preschoolers. We had some much fun making this Valentine’s kids craft and I know you will too.

Use recycled materials to make this Silly Heart Puppet Valentines craft for kids. It's fun for toddlers, preschoolers, and big kids too.

Supplies Needed

Cardboard (I used an old cereal box)
Large craft sticks
Glue
Paint
Googly eyes
Puff balls, glitter and any other embellishment you want to add

How to make a Silly Heart Puppet

We started by gluing our craft sticks onto the backs of our cardboard hearts.

Next we got out our paint to decorate our hearts.

After the painting was done, it was time for the glitter. I had the girls sprinkle the glitter on the wet paint, which will hold it on as well as glue does.

Don’t be afraid of the glitter! Fold a piece of paper in half, then open it up again. Shake the excess glitter off onto the paper and use the fold to help you get the glitter back in the container.

Hint: Wrap some packing tape around your hand, sticky side up, and it will pick up all the excess that is scattered around the table and the floor.

Once the paint dried a little, it was time for the embellishments.

We glued colorful puffballs and googly eyes on our hearts.

Use your imagination! Scraps of fabric, ribbon, sequins, and beads are just a few of the things you could add to your puppets.

Keep it open-ended and keep it fun. I always love to see the things my girls create.

Use recycled materials to make this Silly Heart Puppet Valentines craft for kids. It's fun for toddlers, preschoolers, and big kids too.

Each Silly Heart Puppet is a little bit kooky, a whole lot of silly, and very unique.

We had a great time making them!

Now it’s time to have a lot of fun playing with them!

Coffee Filter Valentine Heart Suncatcher

January 25, 2018 By Terri Thompson

I love to decorate my windows for different holidays. Do you?

My favorite things to use are kid-made decorations. We’ve got some awesome Easter suncatchers, but nothing for Valentine’s Day.

That’s got to change.

So we got out a few simple supplies to make a colorful Coffee Filter Valentine Heart Suncatcher… or two or three.

Supplies Needed

Coffee filters
Red and pink liquid watercolors
Eye droppers
Red and pink construction paper
Scissors
Glue stick

How to make a coffee filter Valentine heart suncatcher

For the first part of the process, we’re going to paint our coffee filters with our liquid watercolor. But, don’t grab the paintbrushes, we’re going to add a fine motor twist and use eye droppers.

You’ll need one coffee filter per suncatcher. But, if you’re anything like us, you’ll want to create two or three heart suncatchers per person.

Set up a station for dying your coffee filters. I placed a paper towel on top of a plastic tray to protect my table. Then, pour some of each color of liquid watercolor into small containers. Flatten each of your coffee filters.

To paint the coffee filters, use the eye dropper to drip your paint onto the coffee filter. Set them aside to dry.

Your dripping paint will give you a fun, colorful tie-dye effect. They turned out so bright and beautiful!

Note: If you don’t have liquid watercolors, you could use water dyed with food coloring. The liquid watercolors are much brighter, so instead of vibrant suncatchers, you’ll have soft pastel suncatchers.

After your coffee filters have dried, cut out a heart outline from your construction paper.

I found that cutting the construction paper in half and then using that half to make a traditional folded-paper heart was the perfect size for our coffee filter.

Use your glue stick to attach your heart outline to the coffee filter.

Trim the edges of the coffee filter so that they’re even with the construction paper heart.

Once everything is trimmed, it’s time to hang your heart suncatcher in your window.

Make enough for all your windows. They definitely brighten up a cold winter day!
