Best Halloween Movies for Toddlers

September 17, 2019 By Terri Thompson

A Halloween movie night can be so much fun! But, most Halloween movies for families are not suitable for toddlers.

Don’t give up hope! I’ve got your back.

Here are some fun choices of Halloween movies for toddlers. They’re not too long, not too scary, and just right for your little ones.

These Halloween movies for toddlers are not too spooky and are just right for your little ones. They'll love these fun and adorable options.

These movie choices may not be the most enjoyable for adults (honestly, how many movies for toddlers are?), but they’re good choices that will keep your little ones happy. And that in turn will make your movie watching time much more enjoyable.

So, gather up the kids, queue up a movie, and have a good time together.

Fun Halloween Movies for Toddlers

Room on the Broom

This gentle movie is based on the classic book by Julia Donaldson. It’s fun, whimsical, and very sweet. This is my number one choice of great toddler Halloween movies. You can view it via Amazon Prime and it’s also available on Netflix.

Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About Halloween

Learn all about Halloween and fall from the Cat in the Hat. This fun choice is full of silliness and catchy songs. If you toddler is already a fan of the Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That, they’ll love this choice.

Curious George: A Halloween Boofest

In this movie, George and his friends has a fun (and slightly spooky) adventure after hearing the legend of No Noggin, who likes to kick the hats off of everyone’s heads. It’s a fun choice for little Curious George fans.

Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie

Like most Pooh movies, this is a gentle take on a Halloween story. The friends get a little scared because Halloween can be so spooky. But, they learn that the can be brave together.

A Very Brave Witch

This selection from Scholastic is very short (it clocks in at only 7 minutes), but it is a sweet story about a little witch who meets a new friend and experiencing trick or treating for the first time. You can watch it alone via Amazon Prime or watch it along with several short Halloween selections from Scholastic.

Spookly the Square Pumpkin

Like some of the other choices on this list, so many great toddler Halloween movies are based on beloved children’s books. In this movie, Spookly is teased because he’s a different shape, but with the help of some very good friends he learns that different is awesome.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Monster Musical

This movie from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is just the right amount of spooky for your little ones. They’ll love the music and the story line. It’s a great choice for fans of the show.

It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

Your toddlers are not too young to be introduced to this Halloween classic. This is a perfect choice that everyone in the family will love!

Tips For a Successful Halloween Movie Night With Toddlers

You don’t have to have a movie night at night. A tired toddler will just not enjoy a movie. Try having a movie afternoon or even a movie at breakfast.

Keep things short. Since toddlers have a short attention span, you shouldn’t pop in a full-length movie. These selections are all either around 30 minutes or an hour in length.

Let them play. Don’t expect your toddler to set still for an entire more. If they’d rather sit and play while watching, let them. They’ll have fun and you’ll have a better time too.

These Halloween movies for toddlers are not too spooky and are just right for your little ones. They'll love these fun and adorable options.

Panda Mini Notebook Craft

September 6, 2019 By Terri Thompson

My house is full of notebooks. My kids love them and so do I.

We’ve got big notebooks, little notebooks, store-bought notebooks and homemade notebooks, like this fun panda mini notebook.

This craft is simple to make and fun for both kids and tweens.

Record all your thoughts and ideas in this fun and simple Panda Mini Notebook craft that is perfect for kids and tweens to make.

Supplies Needed

White cardstock
Ruled loose leaf paper
Scissors
Black marker
Stapler

How to make your Panda Mini Notebook

You’ll need to start with two identical circles. To make it easy, find something to use as a template. I just used a drinking glass.

Trace your template twice on your white cardstock leaving room to draw your panda’s ears.

Draw two rounded ears on the top of each of your circles.

Cut out both of your panda heads.

Next, trace circles on your lined paper. You won’t need to create ears on your inner pages.

You’ll want about 10 – 20 pages for your notebook.

Cut out all of your lined paper.

Now it’s time to draw your panda’s face.

On one of your cardstock heads, draw two slanted ovals for the eyes. Inside of these ovals draw a smaller circle in each one. Color in the large oval with your black marker and add a small black dot in the inner white circle to complete the eyes.

Make a smaller black circle in between and below the eyes for your panda’s nose and draw a mouth underneath it.

Finally, color in your panda’s ears. Color in the ears on both sides of the paper.

On the second card stock head, you’ll only want to color in the ears on both sides. Use my picture below for reference.

Finally, it’s time to put your notebook together.

Stack all your lined circles on top of the back of your panda’s head and place the front of your panda’s head on the top. Make sure all your circles are lined up.

Attach the notebook together with a staple. It only took one staple to the side of my panda notebook to hold my notebook together and make it easy to use.

There are so many things you can write in your mini notebook!

Use it to make lists or write your thoughts.

You can also turn it into a book about pandas. You can write a fact about pandas on each page and add a few illustrations. Or you can write a story starring panda bears.

What would you write in your notebook?

Fine Motor Skip Counting Activity

September 5, 2019 By Terri Thompson

Have you ever bought a pack of paper plates to do one activity? And, then have 99 paper plates left over?

The struggle is real, right?

So, how are you going to use them up?

They’re too flimsy to eat on, so that’s not an option.

Your best bet is to come up with another fun paper plate activity, like this fine motor skip counting activity.

So grab a paper plate and let’s get going!

Grab a paper plate and some paper clips for this easy fine motor skip counting activity to help your kids learn to skip count by fives.

Disclosure: There are Amazon Affiliate and other affiliate links in this article which means, at no additional cost to you, we could receive compensation for our recommendations. You can read our full disclosure policy on our Disclosure Page for more details.

Supplies Needed

Paper plate

Permanent Marker

Paper clips

How to Make Your Fine Motor Skip Counting Activity

Use your permanent marker and write the number zero near the edge.

Add five paper clips next to the zero to figure out how far apart you’ll need your numbers. After your five paper clips, write the number five.

Continue writing numbers around the edge of your plate, counting by fives, until you make it all the way around. Leave enough room for five paper clips in between each number. Because of this, I only had room for zero through 40 on my plate.

Use a second (or third) plate if you want to continue counting to 100.

How to Play This Fine Motor Skip Counting Activity

Provide your child with the prepared paper plate and a large handful of paper clips. You’ll need enough paper clips to make it all the way around your plate.

Starting at zero, work your way around the plate by putting five paper clips between each number.

Don’t forget to skip count along the way!

More Ways to Play

Work in reverse. If you have a plate with all the paper clips in place, go back around the plate and remove the paper plates while practicing skip counting.

Use this concept to practice any set of skip counting. Place the numbers further apart to count by tens or closer together to count by twos. You can have paper plates for counting by threes, fours, or even sixes. Use this for any set your child needs to practice.

Attach a plastic bag to the back of your plate to store your paper clips. Now, you have a great busy bag activity for your elementary-aged kid.

How would you play with this fine motor skip counting activity?
