Do you like to decorate for the 4th of July? I always want to, but I don’t always get around to it.

July 4th will be here before we know it, so the girls and I decided to work together to create a fun 4th of July bunting for the holiday, so at least we’ll have something to display.

We made this festive and very patriotic bunting with a few simple supplies. The process was so simple and the results were fun.

Supplies Needed

Red and blue construction paper
White paint
Sponge cut into a star shape
Crepe paper (found in the party supply section)
Stapler

How to make your 4th of July bunting

Before beginning the project, I cut the construction paper into triangles.

One sheet of blue and one sheet of red paper provided us with many triangles.

I folded the paper in half lengthwise, then drew my triangles. I highlighted my lines in the above picture so you could see how I drew my lines. I cut along all the lines as well as cutting along my folded line down the middle.

Once they were all cut out, the girls were ready to start making stars.

We used our sponges to stamp one star in the middle of each triangle.

Then came the hard part, waiting for them to dry! But, they did look pretty all spread out on the table!

Once everything was dry, we sorted our triangles so that we had a red/blue/red/blue pattern.

We took the red crepe paper and folded it in half. We put one triangle into the fold at a time and stapled it into the crepe paper (see picture below).

We lined the triangles up side by side with the pointed side down to get the bunting look.

Now, we’re all ready to decorate! We’ll hang our 4th of July bunting and display a few flags for a fun and festive holiday.

When I think about St. Patrick’s Day, the first thing I think about is the shamrock.

Sure, there are other symbols of the holiday, like leprechauns, gold coins, rainbows, and getting pinched, but the bright green shamrock is my favorite.

No-Sew Valentine Pencil Toppers

One thing I love about Valentine’s Day is the chance to make small gestures to let others know how special they are.

Sometimes it’s a simple card to say “You’re Awesome!”

Other times, it’s a small gift to say “I was thinking about you today.”

These simple No-Sew Valentine Pencil Toppers are a fun little gift to give your friends. They’re easy to make and easy to personalize for each individual person.

Supplies Needed:

Red or pink felt sheets
Scissors
Scrap paper (to make a pattern)
Tacky Glue
Fabric Paint
Pencils

*Note about the glue. I love to use Tacky Glue for projects like this, but if you can’t find this specific glue, you will want to find a glue that works on fabric.

How to make your Valentine Pencil Toppers

Before you get started, you’ll want to make a quick pattern for your hearts from scrap paper. It is the best way to make sure all your hearts are the same size.

Hold the pattern up to a pencil to make sure it is the correct size.

Next, cut out two pieces of felt for each pencil topper. I found it was easiest to fold my pattern in half and also fold my felt. Hold the folded edge of your pattern up to the folded edge of your felt. Cut out your heart.

Use your Tacky Glue to attach your two heart pieces together. Apply glue around the edge of one heart leaving a section at the bottom open. This will be the opening for your pencil.

Put your second heart on top of the heart with glue and press gently. Press and hold for about 20 seconds, then let dry for a couple of minutes before moving to the next step.

Decorate your hearts

Finally, it’s time to decorate your hearts! Use fabric paint to create your decorations.

We used a 3-D fabric paint in a squirt bottle. I found this worked really well. Felt is not smooth so the squirt bottle was a great way to control your lines.

You can make frilly decorations or funny decorations. We even made a few friendly faces. Anything goes, just let your creativity guide you.

When you’re all done, let your Valentine pencil toppers dry for a few hours before slipping them onto a fun pencil and giving your friends the perfect little Valentine’s Day gift.

They’re getting to the age where they can do more and more of the work themselves. I love this because the more they do in the kitchen the more confident and capable they become.
