Sometimes all it takes is switching out the pencil for another tool to make writing much more fun. With today’s idea, we used cotton swabs and paint to write out all our spelling words.

How to set-up:
Have your child use the cotton swab and paint to write all their words. The handwriting won’t be neat and tidy. It will most likely be big and sloppy. But, that’s not the point. Just the act of forming the letters will help them remember their spelling words.
Let them have fun! If they want to get artistic, let them. If they want to make big block letters, let them. If they want to make it swirly and colorful, let them. The more fun it is, the more willing your kids will be to practice their spelling words.
The next time that spelling list comes home, put the pencil aside and grab the cotton swabs and paint instead.
